About Know Your Official

Know Your Official exists because the record already exists. Candidates file financial disclosures, campaign reports, and statements of candidacy with the government. Those filings are public — but they are scattered across a dozen agencies, in formats built for regulators, not voters.

This site reads those filings and shows you what they say. That is the whole product. There are no ratings, no grades, no “accountability scores,” no commentary, and no ads. When the record is silent, we show the silence.

The project is nonpartisan by construction: the same fields, the same sources, and the same “not found” honesty apply to every candidate regardless of party. Coverage is expanding district by district; the current pilot is Florida’s 10th Congressional District.
