About Know Your Official

Know who makes the decisions — elected, appointed, and in charge.

Know Your Official exists because the record already exists. Governments publish who holds each office, who appoints whom, and what each office does. Candidates file financial disclosures, campaign reports, and statements of candidacy. Those filings are public — but they are scattered across a dozen agencies, in formats built for regulators, not voters.

This site reads those filings and shows you what they say. That is the whole product. There are no ratings, no grades, no “accountability scores,” no commentary, and no ads. When the record is silent, we show the silence.

The project is nonpartisan by construction: the same fields, the same sources, and the same “not found” honesty apply to every person regardless of party. Current coverage, where loaded: members of the U.S. Congress; the President, Vice President and Cabinet; state executives and legislators; Florida counties and cities; judges; and some Texas counties.
